Community Social Pediatrics Clinic

Community Social Pediatrics is an interdisciplinary “kitchen table” approach to pediatric care. Our clinic brings children, caregivers, and professionals together to help mitigate the impact of the social determinants of health and eliminate any other barriers that prevent children from thriving

Who is it for?

The Community Social Pediatrics Clinic serves children under 18 years of age who are struggling in at least one of the following areas:

  • Attention

  • Social-Emotional

  • Behaviour

  • Academics

We specifically support children and families that are vulnerable to the social determinants of health such as poverty, trauma, or toxic stress.

What do we do?

The Community Social Pediatrics team welcomes children and families into a homey,
de-medicalized centre to discuss all of the aspects of a child’s life and create plans to meet those needs. Our team meets with children and the important people in their life. Together, we set goals that consider the best interests of the child in several areas:

  • Healthy Home Environment

  • Socio-cultural Enrichment

  • Health and Medical Needs

  • School and Learning

  • Personal Development

Why is it important?

Community Social Pediatrics is built on a foundation of upholding and protecting the rights of children to ensure that they can thrive. By prioritizing children's rights, as well as engaging family and community partners, the team empowers children and fosters their overall well-being. This holistic approach recognizes the complexity of children's lives and aims to mitigate all areas of adversity, while building a network of support around the entire family.
