Social Pediatrics Elective
The Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick (DMNB) Social Pediatric elective is an opportunity to introduce the medical learner to the social determinants of health in the context of pediatric medical care. Electives are available for medical students, clerks and residents, depending on availability. Students will gain an appreciation of the community by working directly with organizations and practitioners in Saint John. These experiences will highlight the physicians role in addressing children's health needs through inter professional collaboration and advocacy.

Learners will be paired with a pediatrician to work along side the team at the Community Social Pediatrics clinic. Their time will be spent completing selected modules, participating in clinic, attending school meetings, and engaging in programming when available. Learners may have additional experiences such as presenting at a journal club at the Community Social Pediatrics clinic, participating in online simulations and potentially participate in a research opportunity.
